Commitment: Fail

So I realized that my word for the year is commitment and I must say that I have stayed pretty true to that word. I finished the first P90x series and have started another called Metamorphosis by Tracy Anderson. I was very pleased with my results from P90x but felt like I needed to change things up. Tracy Anderson promises to transform your body and I must say that I am a believer. Although I have gained back some weight since the transition to another workout program and my knees are killing me, I really do see some long-term potential. I am willing to stick it out and see if I can get the legs, abs and arms I have always wanted.

I am continuing to work with Brayden to prepare him for Kindergarten this year. He is doing so well with his reading and is such a smart young man.

I have not been as committed to this blog and promise from this moment forward that I will make a better effort to update this blog as I really see it as a scrapbook of our life. I hate that I am not capturing these important moments. Maddie had her first birthday recently and I promise to update with pictures of her special day. I cannot believe how fast time goes by. It really does seem like just yesterday when she was born. She and Brayden are the little lights in my life that make me grin from ear to ear. I am so blessed to have these beautiful children and thank God everyday for bringing them into my life.

Happy Friday!

Word of the Year

My word of the year for 2011 is "Commitment". Instead of throwing out random resolutions, I have made it a priority to create goals that are focused around this word "commitment". I will commit to focus on my health.....Brad and I began P90 X the last week of December. We are now on Day 22 and I can honestly say that I am so glad that I have taken on this challenge. Believe me, it is challenging. You have to do a different work out each day, focusing on a different area and you work out for a minimum of 45 minutes. Brad and I are doing it together, which has helped so much. I am a strong believer in having an accountability partner. Some days I just don't wanna, but Brad has been there to encourage me and push me to give my best. I feel like a different person and I honestly feel like this work out has allowed me to be a better wife and mother. I know that sounds strange, but it is amazing how spending a little time on yourself each day can make the world of difference.

In 2011, I am focusing on my commitment to my children and my husband. I want to really work with Brayden at least 3 days a week on his reading. He is really enjoying it, and the time that he gets to spend alone with Mommy. Everyone needs that special one on one time, so I am committed to putting forth the effort to have that with both of my children and my husband as well. Exercising has become another way for Brad and I to connect and have that alone time, but I know that we need to focus on time alone without the children so that we can grow together, have fun, and remember who we are as a couple.

In 2011, I am focusing on my commitment to myself. I don't think that I honestly pay enough attention to myself or my own needs. I think that comes with the territory when you are a mom, but I can definitely see that I have lost that desire to get to know myself. There are so many things that I want to do this year. Take a dance class, read a new book each month, learn to sew, get in the best shape of my life, spend more time with my girlfriends, and focus on growing my relationship with God.

So far, I am off to a good start with my resolutions and I will continue to focus on the things that will allow me to be further committed to my health, myself, and my family. I am so thankful for all of the blessings that I have in my life and I am looking forward to an AWESOME 2011!

Winter Park Colorado

We just got home from Colorado and we had an AMAZING time. I really needed this vacation and enjoyed spending time with the family and children. I had a chance to bond with Madison even more over this past week. It makes me so happy yet so sad to think that I have to go back to the real world tomorrow. This month and year has gone by so fast! We went to Winter Park this past Tuesday and had the best time. We stayed at Trademark. I definitely recommend this condo as we stayed in the most beautiful condo with everything we could possibly need and then some. Here is a link to their website: http://www.accesswinterpark.net/

We spent 2 fabulous days skiing and enjoyed delicious food prepared by Brad. We got to go on a sleigh ride as a family and enjoyed hot chocolate around the camp fire. We spent the last night at a cajun restaurant and celebrated Brad and his dad's birthday. The kids could not have been better sports. We have decided to nickname Maddie "Trooper" because she was always so good and easy going even through some of the coldest conditions. Everything could not have been better. It was definitely an experience that we will never forget and I feel so very blessed that we were able to take this vacation together. Here are some pictures from our wonderful trip.

Love That Chicken Fried

As a family, we enjoy listening to music. Lately country has been our preference and we usually will have it on while we are eating or just hanging out with the kids. Last night we were listening to "Chicken Fried" by the Zac Brown Band and all of a sudden we hear Brayden singing along to the words..."Love that Chicken fried...cold beer on a friday night!" Then he proceeds to ask Brad if when he gets older if he can drink beer! He sounded so innocent and sweet, it made us laugh so hard.

Maddie is growing more and more each day. She is trying to pull herself up to sit and wants to crawl away during tummy time. She laughs and laughs and makes me grin from ear to ear. I try to make sure to spend as much time with her as possible and sometimes it is hard with her 7:30pm bedtime. Juggling it all has been hard some days, but Brad has been so helpful with the kids and I appreciate him so much.

I took on the new task of teaching Brayden to read. He is still 3 but is turning 4 in September. He is doing really, really well. We are using the book "Teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons," and I give him a sticker for each lesson he completes. After about every 10 lessons or so, he gets to pick out a toy. He likes being rewarded and it helps keep committed so, I am all for it.

I have been looking at a lot of products for babies lately and I have decided that after Maddie already having had 2 colds at 3 months of age, that I am going to order the NoseFrida. Bray has come home from school sick at least once a month. The NoseFrida has had raving reviews and I would do anything to help my baby not have a stuffy nose. She sounds so miserable. It is a rather interesting method for mucous removal, but it is definitely worth a shot. I will let you know how it works.

So excited about tomorrow. Brad and I are going on a date! They have been few and far between lately, so I am really excited to spend some time together. Not sure where we will go, but in the mood for some really good food!
